McGuire, Carol Ann

Carol Ann McGuire, 73, of Boston, Ky., passed away Monday, March 26, 2012, at her home in Boston.

She was a native of Lebanon Junction. As a registered nurse she notably served 50 years in many communities including Nelson and Hardin counties. She was an educator at the Lansing School of Nursing at Bellarmine College in Louisville, Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown, the Practical Nursing Program at North Florida Junior College, North Community College in Highland Heights and St. Francis School of Practical Nursing in Cincinnati. She also worked at the Galen College of Nursing in Louisville.

She was a founding member of Hospice of Central Kentucky and was assistant executive director of the Kentucky Board of Nursing. She held many positions such as director of nursing, director of infection control, health care coordinator and acting director of nursing service in institutions such as Hardin Memorial Hospital, Kentucky Peer Review in Louisville and Madison County Memorial Hospital in Madison, FL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Franklin and Hazel Elizabeth Wise McGuire.
Survivors include her sisters, Jane Crawford (James) of Boston, Theresa Boone and Susan Mattingly (Cecil), both of St. Simons Island, Ga.; her brothers, James McGuire(Carol) and Joe McGuire (Connie), both of Boston, Pat McGuire (Cheri) of South Bend, Ind., and Tom McGuire (Nancy) of Louisville.

A Mass of the Resurrection for Carol Ann McGuire is at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 30, at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Lebanon Junction with the Revs. Brian Kenney and Jim Graff officiating. Burial follows in St. Clare Church Cemetery in Colesburg.

Visitation is from 1 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Kappel Funeral Home, Boston Chapel, in Boston. A prayer service is at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Kappel Funeral Home in Lebanon Junction is in charge of arrangements.
